Coastguard Shore Crew Volunteer - Wanaka
Volunteering for Coastguard is a team effort – requiring just as much precision and effort off the water as it does in the midst of a rescue in Wanaka Lakes. Whether you’re an ace administrator, handy with a toolkit, a fantastic fundraiser, a brilliant bookkeeper or an accurate accountant, there’s a role for you at Coastguard Wanaka.
Coastguard Wanaka are looking for volunteers to make things smooth sailing on land while the rescue crew are focusing on training and call outs. If you have a few hours a week to give or just a few weekends a year, your contribution to Coastguard Wanaka will support our wet crew save lives at sea – all without getting your feet wet.
As one of New Zealand's 63 Coastguard units across Aotearoa, Coastguard Wanaka, maintains, and operates one dedicated rescue vessel based out of Wanaka. These amazing volunteers respond to the call for help 24 hours a day 7 days a week across Lake Wanaka and beyond. Last year, Coastguard Wanaka volunteers responded to 15 calls for help, and are the reason 30 people came home safely.
